Quality Rewarded
We really appreciate doing business with small, quality-orientated family businesses and Loch Duart taste, quality, provenance and integrity are essential elements for producing the food that we eat. The Fath family business is a fine example of this. Together, the family members run the Forellen Trout Farm and Smokery in Umbirch, a small town near Freiburg in the south-west corner of Germany – not far from the French and Swiss borders. The business combines a smokery with a retail outlet and they have been selling our salmon, fresh and smoked, since 2010.
Hr Fath Senior, a lifelong fish farmer, fulfilled a long-held ambition when he visited Loch Duart in 2014 and, blessed with good weather, got out to sea for a close-up view of the way we farm.
We attach great value to these long-established artisanal businesses with their strong traditions and high standards, and are delighted to announce that Forellenhof has won a prestigious award for its smoked Loch Duart salmon with a cold-smoked whisky-flavoured recipe at the German Agricultural Society’s 2015 show – a bronze award won in the face of stiff competition from Germany’s major producers.
Our congratulations to Mr Fath and his hardworking family.
