The Loch Duart Way
No shortcuts. No compromises.
Low-Impact Feed
We believe in feeding our salmon a diet rich in marine ingredients. However, we are equally committed to ensuring this does not come at the expense of the ocean’s scarce resources.
That’s why our salmon feed includes fish-processing trimmings from fisheries that are certified by MSC and/or Marin Trust. These trimmings consist of high-quality offcuts not destined for human consumption. By cleverly repurposing them into a nutritious feed ingredient, we reduce the need to catch wild fish to feed farm-raised fish.
As a result it takes just 0.8 kg of wild fish to raise 1 kg of Loch Duart salmon—helping to preserve the ocean’s limited resources and ensuring we can responsibly raise salmon for generations to come.
Small-Scale Farming: We focus on raising quality over quantity. Our pens are stocked with just 1.5% fish to 98.5% water, giving our salmon the space to swim freely against strong natural currents.
Low Environmental Impact: Our small-scale farms are designed to have a lighter footprint. At sea, we pioneered hybrid power technology to reduce diesel consumption by 60%.
Naturally Raised: Our salmon are slow-grown with no antibiotics or hormones, and minimal handling. We prioritise fish welfare with a natural approach, using freshwater treatments and cleaner fish to keep our salmon healthy and their environment clean.
Unique Feed: We feed our fish what they want to be fed — a high-quality, marine-rich diet. Crafted to a recipe unique to Loch Duart, it meets the specific ancestral nutritional needs of our salmon.
