Support for our local communities

Web EditorBlog, News

Loch Duart has been part of Scourie and Sutherland for nearly 20 years now, and we like to think we’ve become a familiar and welcome part of this close-knit community. Of course we couldn’t have become the established, sustainable salmon business we’re now recognised as without the support and close involvement of this wonderful local community.

So, we asked ourselves: how can we give something back to the people of Scourie and the wider Sutherland community? What we discovered was a range of exciting groups and projects that we knew we had to be a part of. Here’s what we’ve been involved in supporting recently:

  • we’ve donated £10,000 towards the re-wiring of Scourie Village Hall – to help them get their Entertainment Licence, so local people could hold events in the hall
  • we’ve provided £1,000 of kick-start funding and sponsorship for the Greenpower Goblin Car Project, plus Loch Duart engineers’ time and expertise working with Primary 7 pupils to build a kit racing car which will be entered into a race in Aberdeenshire
  • we’ve purchased new strips for the Lochinver Junior football team

Scourie Village Hall is the beating heart of the community and our support will help it to be used by a wide range of groups of all ages. The ‘Goblin Car Project’ and the football kit purchase have enabled us to support young people from Durness, Kinlochbervie, Scourie and Lochinver.

A business like ours relies on the support of people across Sutherland and we’re determined to be good neighbours, so anything we can do to make a positive impact on the local community and more widely is hugely important to us.

We’d love to hear from you if you would like to know more about Loch Duart and the brilliant projects I’ve mentioned here.

Yours sincerely,
